VIA has established various committees to assure the SmartWaySA
remains focused, on schedule and responsive to the community:
Commission on Intra-City Rail and Streetcar
This important Commission serves in an advisory capacity to help finalize the study
that has been assessing the feasibility of a rail streetcar line in the northern
reaches of the central business district. Local developer and community leader Marty
Wender serves as Chair of this Commission and local businessman and former Bexar
County Commissioner Mike Novak serves as Vice-Chair.

Technical Advisory Committee for Inner-City Rail Streetcar Downtown Circulator
Study
The Technical Advisory Committee consists of staff from each of the partner agencies
including: VIA, MPO, AACOG, City of San Antonio, Bexar County, TxDOT, RMA, suburban
cities, CPS, SAWS, with VIA’s project manager as the chair.
